The Hobe Sound Chamber Christmas Parade, sponsored by O'Donnell Impact Windows & Storm Protection, is a festive highlight of the holiday season. Featuring a variety of entries including decorated golf carts and vintage fire trucks, the parade winds through Dixie Highway and Bridge Road. Local businesses enhance the celebration, offering treats and holiday previews.The Hobe Sound Centre Building hosts the Grand Stand and Judging Station, complemented by DJ Dancensound's holiday music. A craft stroll adds to the day's attractions, providing unique gift shopping opportunities. This long-standing community tradition, with over 1,500 participants and a crowd of 5,000, is made possible through the support of sponsors like Waste Management and Treasure Coast Legal, contributing to its status as a memorable seasonal event.
Established in 1955, the Humane Society of the TreasureCoast (HSTC) in Martin County is a unique open access, no-kill animal welfare organization. Renowned for rehoming over 2,000 animals annually, HSTC is a leading example in animal lifesaving, offering comprehensive services like adoption, care for animals of all health statuses, ages, temperaments, and breeds. Celebrating a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for nine years, HSTC's commitment to excellence and fiscal responsibility is evident. The Traveling Youth, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is committed to enriching young lives by breaking educational barriers. The Martin County Police Athletic League (PAL) aims to positively impact local youth through sportsmanship, competition, and fitness. Targeting a broad range of young individuals, many with anger issues and limited positive male role models, PAL offers them an avenue to channel their energy into learning teamwork, camaraderie, and empowerment. This program significantly improves their perception of law enforcement, viewing them as mentors and coaches rather than adversaries. Offering activities like boxing, wrestling, and youth leadership, PAL not only transforms lives but also strengthens community bonds. As a growing chapter, we seek funding to continue and expand our valuable work with this deserving group of young people.
Project LIFT is dedicated to reshaping the lives of at-risk teens and their families through a comprehensive program that combines substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, mentorship, and vocational skills training. Our innovative approach uniquely integrates mental health services within vocational training, catering to 14-25-year-olds at no cost. Participants develop practical skills in areas like welding, auto repair, HVAC, carpentry, and construction. Concurrently, they receive professional support for various challenges including depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma, abuse, and anger management. This dual focus not only equips them with valuable job skills but also fosters mental and emotional well-being, paving the way for healthier, more productive lives.
